Sara en Abraham poppen
Sara of Sarah is een persoon uit de Joodse bijbel (Genesis). Zij was de vrouw van aartsvader Abraham en zou op 90-jarige leeftijd nog een kind van hem hebben gebaard. In de Koran wordt haar naam niet genoemd, maar ze komt wel enige keren voor als de vrouw van Abraham. Van oudsher is het gebruik om een jarige een brood of koek in de vorm van Sara of Abraham te geven als de jarige 50 wordt. Deze poppen hebben in een etalage van een banketbakker gestaan. Ze dateren waarschijnlijk uit de jaren ’50 of ’60. Sara en Abraham koeken werden namelijk erg populair toen ze persoonlijk aan Koningin Juliana en Prins Bernard (in 1959 en 1961) werden aangeboden. De poppen zijn met nylon draad aan de frames vastgemaakt. Het 50-teken van Abraham is wat vervaagd. Hoogte 50 cm. Prijs op aanvraag.
Sara and Abraham dolls
Sara or Sarah is a person from the Jewish Bible (Genesis). She was the wife of the Patriarch Abraham and would at age 90 still have given birth to a child of him. Her name is not mentioned in the Koran, but she is mentioned a few times as the wife of Abraham. Traditionally it is practice to give a 50 years old a bread or cake in the form of Sara of Abraham. These dolls stood in a shop window of a Dutch pastry shop. They date probably from the 50’s or 60’s. Sara and Abraham cakes became very popular in Holland because they were offered personally to the Dutch Queen Juliana and Prince Bernard (in 1959 and 1961). The dolls are attached to the frames with nylon cord. The 50 sign on Abraham is some what faded. Height 50 cm. Price on request.
