Kleurenets Tjeerd Bottema Schelpenvissers
Tjeerd Bottema (1884-1978) won in 1907 de Prix de Rome. Hij woonde van 1911 tot 1919 in Laren (Noord-Holland). Daarna woonde en werkte hij tot aan zijn dood (1978) in Katwijk aan Zee (Zuid-Holland). Deze kleurenets is gesigneerd met potlood: ‘Schelpenvissers’ (l.o) en Tj. Bottema (r.o). Schelpenvissers waren van oudsher zeer actief op de stranden bij Katwijk. Zij brachten hun oogst met paard en wagen naar verzamelplaatsen. Vervolgens werden de schelpen vervoerd naar kalkovens. Het Katwijks Museum heeft de Bottemazaal, die naar Tjeerd Bottema is vernoemd. Door zijn legaat kon dit museum in 1983 in een voormalig redershuis aan de Voorstraat 46 worden gevestigd. Afmetingen met lijst circa 72 x 42 cm. Lichte verkleuringen in het passe partout. Color etching Tjeerd Bottema Shell-gatherers
Tjeerd Bottema (1884-1978) won in 1907 de Prix de Rome. He lived from 1911 to 1919 in Laren (Noord-Holland). He then moved to Katwijk aan Zee (Zuid-Holland) where lived and worked untill his death in 1978. This color etching is signed with pencil: ‘Schelpenvissers’ (left below) en Tj. Bottema (right below). Shell-gatherers were very active on the beaches of Katwijk. They brought their harvest to the so called “verzamelplaatsen” on the coast. The shells were then brought to the limekilns. The Katwijks Museum has a Bottema-room, which is named after Tjeerd Bottema. With his legacy the museum could buy in 1983 a monumental villa, built in 1913 by a rich ship-owner on the Voorstraat number 46. Dimensions with frame circa 72 x 42 cm.
