Early Staffordshire child’s plate with satire on corporal domestic punishment

In Staffordshire and the rest of the British Empire it was the general right of a master to give corporal punishment to his servant. This ABC plate is stating “Hold your hand out you rascal” and is early Victorian from around 1840. Watch the master’s rather sadistic smile. The full alphabet makes up the border with a saw tooth rim and unfortunately also a tiny crack. Diameter 13 cm. Asking price € 65.
