ELECTROSTATIC DEVICE BY JONAS POHL

The German instrument maker Jonas Pohl settled in 1854 in The Hague. He made especially surgical instruments. After his death in 1877 his nephew Louis Pohl put the company on, but he kept the name J. Pohl as a brand. After the First world war, the name of the company was changed in ‘N.V. J. Pohl’. Electrostatic machines like this were popular in the 19th century because it was assumed that electric waves had a healing effect on body and mind. Through massage or simple touch people were exposed to electric waves. This mini (travel) device – the sizes are only 12.5 x 12.5 x 12.5 cm – dates back to a period that electricity was still not commonplace. The device has its own battery. If the lid of the box is closed, the tray with the loose instruments is at the same time locked. Price on request
