Boek met originele houtsnede van Hildo Krop
Hildebrand Lucien (Hildo) Krop (1884-1970) ontwierp in 1921 deze houtsnede, die als omslag diende voor het boek “Uit Sovjet-Rusland” van Henriette Goverdine Anna Roland Holst-van der Schalk (1869-1952). Beiden hadden de Sociaal Democratische Arbeiderspartij (SDAP) verlaten uit onvrede met de te rechtse partijkoers en waren lid geworden van de Communistische Partij Holland (CPH). In een uitvoerige noot gaat de schrijfster in op de opvallende “naaktlooperij” tijdens Russische turnfeesten (zie de onderstaande foto’s voor de tekst hiervan). De houtsnede was oorspronkelijk iets groter, vanwege de harde kaft in deze aan beide zijden met circa 1 cm ingekort. Dankzij de harde kaft is de rest van het boek wel in goede staat. Hildebrand Lucien (Hildo) Krop (1884-1970) designed in 1921 this woodcut, which served as cover for the book “Uit Sovjet-Rusland” by Anna Roland Holst-van der Schalk Henriette Goverdine (1869-1952). Both had left the Dutch social democratic party (SDAP) out of dissatisfaction with the right-wing course and joined the Communistische Partij Holland (CPH). The woodcut was originally slightly larger, due to the bind it is shortened by approximately 1 cm on both sides. Thanks to the hard cover the rest of the book is in goede condition.
